Bowers & Wilkins Introduces New P7 Wireless and P3 Series 2 Headphones

September 8 2016, 04:00
Famed British loudspeaker company, Bowers & Wilkins is reinforcing its headphone range with the announcement of the all-new P7 Wireless headphones, in tandem with the launch of the P3 Series 2, a new and improved version of their award-winning P3 over-ear headphones with improved audio and a new premium leather finish. According to B&W, the new P7 Wireless sets a new standard for on-the-go listening, delivering “professional quality sound” on the move with the added convenience of simple wireless streaming.

The new B&W P7 Wireless builds on the dual success of the original (wired) circumaural P7 and the P5 Wireless. According to B&W, thanks to the acoustic advances made with the original P7 drive units, sound performance is now much improved, bass is tighter, vocals are more defined, and there’s a better sense of space, balance and clarity across the whole frequency range. The focus of the design was on the new 40mm dynamic drivers, featuring a Nylon damped cone CCAW coil and dual cavity ear replaceable ultra-soft memory foam cushions, creating a comfortable and high-quality listening experience.

The P7 Wireless features aptX Bluetooth connectivity and, thanks to updated Bluetooth v4.1, Class 2 technology, it pairs quickly to any Bluetooth-enabled devices such as a phone, tablet or computer. Playback is elegantly managed via intuitive on-board controls, there are two microphones supporting CVC2 algorithm for voice calls, and a rechargeable battery offers a healthy 17-hours of wireless playback, and can be easily charged via USB - a Micro USB 2.0 connector is used for charging, service and future updates. For times when a cable is required, one comes supplied in the box.

Like all headphones from the brand, the P7 Wireless is crafted from the finest materials, including aluminum and sheep leather, combining a sense of luxury and durability. The headphones are foldable, making them easy to travel with, while the luxurious design continues with a carry case that keeps the headphones safe when not in use. Covering the ear, the added comfort is reinforced with noise blocking from the memory foam cushions, following the highly appreciated features of the on-ear P5 Wireless. The new P7 Wireless is priced at $399.99 and is now available.

P3 Series 2
Targetting a much improved experience on the move, Bowers & Wilkins’ redesigned P3 Series 2 headphones update many of the popular features of the original P3. Basically the P3 Series 2 continues to surprise by how small and lightweight they are, while delivering an impressive sound quality for on-ear headphones. The P3 Series’ lightweight frame and innovative folding mechanism are both deceptively strong and comfortable. Plus, P3 Series 2 can easily be stashed away in a coat pocket or purse and comes with its own hard shell carry case to protect it when not in use.

In order to deliver P3 Series 2’s natural-sounding acoustics, Bowers & Wilkins engineers have developed a small drive unit that uses a unique damping system to control diaphragm movement. The result is an incredibly precise sound, with big, extended bass, remarkable for an over-ear headphone of its size. While keeping the light, portable and foldable elements of the original P3 headphone, the new model now benefits from a premium black leather finish, again combining aluminum and sheep leather.

Also, the P3 Series 2 comes with a remote/microphone attachment that works seamlessly with an iPhone and another ‘universal’ cable that ensures compatibility with all other mobile phones and MP3 players. Swapping cables is easy, and simply involves popping off the replaceable ear pads. The new P3 Series 2 is priced at $149.99 and now available.
