Soundbar designs keep getting better and are gaining market share by complementing new-generation 4K UHD flat panel TV's that keep getting larger but don't necessarily have great sound. Soundbars are becoming smart connected speakers, and the centre hub for expanded surround sound systems. Polk Audio is the latest brand to leverage the trend with its MagniFi MAX SR SoundBar, a true 5.1 surround system using patented technology, connecting to wireless surround speakers and Google Home.

Designed to bring 5.1 surround sound to any home theater environment, Polk Audio's new MagniFi MAX SR boasts Polk's patented Stereo Dimensional Array (SDA) digital surround technology. Its most expansive soundbar to date, the MagniFi MAX SR is able to generate powerful sonic detail, and is bundled with wireless surround speakers, which automatically connect with the soundbar and help deliver true 5.1 surround sound when paired. The combination of the MagniFi MAX and SR1 wireless surround speakers allow consumers to easily customize volume and left/right balance in conjunction with the MagniFi MAX, delivering ultimate control and flexibility and maximizing their audio experience. Consumers can also purchase the soundbar and Polk SR1 wireless surrounds a la carte to customize their home theater environment when it is most convenient.

Polk's latest MagniFi MAX SR soundbar features an array of cutting-edge technologies optimized to make movies, TV, sports, and music truly come alive, including DTS and Dolby Digital decoding, providing a bigger and more dynamic sound than traditional soundbars. In addition, the MagniFi MAX SR also features Voice Adjust Technology, which allows users to customize voice levels for crystal clear dialogue and intelligibility.

With integrated Google Home technology, the MagniFi MAX SR easily connects with any Chromecast audio-enabled device as part of a multi-room or whole home audio solution, enabling users to control the sound bar with their voice and stream music from their favorite app. The sound bar is also equipped with Bluetooth for connection to almost any other mobile streaming device. Finally, with Polk's Smart Remote compatibility, the MagniFi MAX SR is controllable via popular IR TV remotes from Samsung, LG, Sony, and Vizio for ultimate reliability and ease-of-use.

"As soundbars continue to flood the market, consumers with an ear toward traditional surround sound are met with a huge array of products and technologies that supposedly bring 5.1 audio to the forefront," says Michael Greco, global brand director, Polk Audio. "While many sound bars certainly improve upon what TVs can offer, the majority lack the sound stage, imaging, and discrete immersive surround sound experience of the MagniFi MAX SR. With the MagniFi MAX SR, we're aiming to change that by providing proven technological tools like Polk's patented SDA and Voice Adjust technology, Dolby Digital and DTS decoding, HDMI connectivity and wireless surrounds so consumers have the option to create a true 5.1 system that mimics what component audio can deliver with the ease of setting up a soundbar."

Featuring four 1-inch by 3-inch full-range drivers, two 0.75-inch tweeters, one 1-inch center channel driver and an included 8-inch ported woofer, the MagniFi MAX SR boasts plenty of brawn to easily outperform TV speakers and traditional soundbars alike. The included subwoofer produces upwards of ten times the amount of bass than the average television set, delivering core-pounding deep bass impact that brings movies, TV and music to life. The soundbar is also outfitted with several preset EQ settings for Movies, Music and Sports, which optimize the sound bar and subwoofer levels to ensure users get the clearest dialogue, big surround sound and deep bass for the best audio and home theater sound. With the Night Effect EQ mode, just a touch of a button lowers the bass and increases dialogue on the sound bar without touching the master volume. Truly customizable, users are also able to manually adjust voice control and bass settings to create the perfect mix for their listening situation.

In addition to advanced audio capabilities, the MagniFi MAX and SR1 wireless surround speakers also feature three built-In Ultra HD 4K HDMI (HDCP 2.2) inputs, one HDMI (ARC) output, optical input for TV audio, AUX 3.5mm, Bluetooth, and Ethernet. The soundbar works with any TV and includes HDMI and optical cables for easy set up. The optional subwoofer and SR1 wireless surround speakers are automatically detected and configured and users are able to play stereo content through the SR1 wireless speakers at the push of a button, in addition to the soundbar.

The MagniFi MAX SR will be sold for $599 retail, with the MagniFi Max subwoofer costing an additional $499 and SR1 wireless speakers adding $149. All are scheduled to be available in August, 2017.
