DirectOut Premiers globcon Software Support for Unified Network Control

At the Prolight+Sound 2018 and NAB 2018 shows, DirectOut introduced globcon, a new, free global control software for the company’s entire product range. globcon was conceived and designed from the end-user’s point of view to allow consistent and coherent control of multiple pieces of equipment from different brands as if they were just one. Available for Mac, PC and Linux systems the software can act as an alternative to the existing DirectOut remote controls.

According to the German company, globcon addresses the professional audio community, offering end-users one single tool to control as many hardware in a network as possible. Starting with the support of the DirectOut product portfolio more devices from a variety of other manufacturers will be added progressively. While the remote control of DirectOut products offers extended access to protocols or plug-ins, globcon grants quick, direct and intuitive access to the hardware using one single software.

Each globcon node enables access of its local connected hardware. As a result, multiple users running globcon on different computers can share the control of all the hardware via network. The software offers device independent snapshots, facilitates and synchronizes real-time changes and ensures monitoring of numerous hardware with one unified control.

Jan Ehrlich, Managing Director at DirectOut comments: “The growing deployment of network structures in media production involves the demand for a superior control concept to manage all network-resources in a flexible and comprehensible manner. Increased complexity of single products and the mixed use of different brands in many application scenarios require the user’s extensive knowledge and strong attentiveness. To overcome these operational barriers, we are happy to introduce globcon to our customers. The consistent and universal concept of the software convinced us in a really positive way. I’m sure it will generate enthusiasm and a feeling of relief.”

Alessandro Bigi, software development manager at globcon, says: "When we came up with the globcon idea we immediately thought about DirectOut as an early adopter and that it would be the perfect way to make use of the worldwide known reliability of their products for our global control software. DirectOut's decision to have a globcon implementation of their entire product portfolio is the best “baptism” we could think of for our new open platform.”
