Paradigm and Anthem to Showcase Persona Speaker, Persona Subwoofer, and STR Electronics at Rocky Mountain Audio Fest 2019

August 29 2019, 00:10
Paradigm and Anthem will offer demonstrations of its Persona Series loudspeakers and Anthem STR electronics during the 2019 Rocky Mountain Audio Fest (RMAF). Persona Series speakers and STR Series electronics have received a total of twelve prestigious Product of the Year awards from all the major  hifi publications. Paradigm will demonstrate its latest flagship Persona 7F speakers and Persona SUB subwoofer alongside Anthem's critically acclaimed STR Preamplifier and STR Power Amplifier.

Paradigm’s new Persona 7F loudspeaker ($25,000/pair US retail) are a passive design patterned after the performance and appearance of the Persona 9H speaker, and delivers unprecedented transparency at lifelike performance levels thanks to its Truextent Beryllium tweeter and mid-range driver system, and dual 8.5-inch Ultra-High-Excursion Differential Drive woofers.

Developed over five years, Paradigm’s flagship Persona Series is entirely designed, engineered, and Crafted in Canada and provides an unprecedented level of realism and transparency. One of the keys to Persona is the use of Beryllium diaphragms, typically found only in speakers costing considerably more. Specially formulated to be exponentially stiffer and significantly lighter than other premium diaphragm materials, this exceptional material enables superior transient response and virtual transparency, with low audible coloration.

The Persona SUB ($6,500/each US retail) features six 8-inch woofers with durable overmolded surrounds radially aligned in a signature hexagonal Vibration-Canceling Design Architecture enclosure. This sub is powered by a 1700W Ultra-Class-D amplifier (capable of 3400W dynamic peaks), and features an array of Paradigm bass enhancements with advanced DSP, efficient venting and superior power supply switching. The addition of the Persona SUB to a Persona series pair of speakers adds depth, and bass precision, achieving well-blended musical bass down to 12Hz.

The new Persona speakers will be connected to the Anthem’s new STR Preamplifier (3,999 US retail), which offers robust connectivity options, advanced control, and refinements in a single, easy-to-use component system. The preamplifier includes a rare feature in stereo components — automatic room equalization and bass management in the form of highly effective Anthem Room Correction (ARC).

Packed with functions such as USB audio input, leading-edge D/A conversion, MM and MC phono inputs, and customizable bass management for seamless integration with mono or stereo sub outputs, the STR Preamplifier offers far more than the average preamplifier. It also provides balanced output for all channels including two subwoofers. The Home Theater Bypass allows convenient operation when combined with a home theater system. Its unconventional implementation engages when the unit is in standby and supports two subwoofers as well as the front channels (through XLR or RCA connections).

The STR Power Amplifier ($5,999 US retail) is the keystone to a world-class two-channel sound system. The powerful amplifier doles out 400 Watts per channel into 8 ohms with both channels driven, with continuous 2-ohm capability of 800 Watts per channel for true no-holds-barred performance with the most demanding speakers and musical content. Each channel has a dedicated toroidal transformer and sixteen bipolar output devices to deliver a continuous and reliable supply of pure, clean low-noise power. The input stage, a proprietary input topology and unique departure from commonly used circuits, consists of a complementary active-load cascoded feedback arrangement for reduced distortion, exceptionally linear response, and superior bandwidth.

Paradigm Electronics, Anthem Electronics, and MartinLogan Loudspeakers, will be located in room 10131 from September 6-8. Torus will be providing an RM20 for power conditioning. Clarus will be providing speaker and balanced interconnect cables, USB cables, and power cords from their Aqua Series. High-resolution music will be streamed from Qobuz to the Anthem STR’s built-in digital-to-audio converter.
