Xperi Celebrates 15th Anniversary of HD Radio Technology in BMW Cars in North America

Xperi is celebrating the 15th anniversary of the launch of HD Radio commercial digital radio system in a US vehicle. As HD Radio’s first car partner, BMW Group led the charge in bringing digital radio into vehicles, helping to revolutionize dashboard entertainment. In September of 2005, HD Radio technology, which BMW Group described at that time as ‘one of the most significant advances in radio broadcasting history,’ first came into the vehicle market as an option in BMW 2006 7 Series and 6 Series models.

Following the original announcement in September 2016, Tessera Holding Corporation announced it has completed the acquisition of DTS. Tessera Technologies and DTS are now combined under Tessera Holding Corporation and the shares of the combined company will continue to trade on the NASDAQ under Tessera’s ticker symbol TSRA. The Company plans to introduce a new corporate name, stock ticker, brand and logo during the first quarter of 2017.

Imaging and semiconductor technologies company Tessera Technologies, announced the intention to acquire DTS, Inc, effectively resulting in the merger of the two companies. The surprising announcement states that the established audio solutions provider has entered into a definitive agreement under which Tessera will acquire DTS for $42.50 per share. The all-cash transaction is valued at approximately $850 million.

A surprise industry announcement with huge implications for the future of digital radio. DTS announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire iBiquity Digital Corporation, the developer and licensor of HD Radio technology for AM/FM audio and data broadcasting, for approximately $172 million.

The new CSRatlas7 platform combines hardware and software to boost simplicity, lower costs, and speed time-to-market. CSR also has entered the car radio tuner front-end market with tuneX, a cost-effective software-defined radio (SDR) solution for the in-vehicle environment.
